The Ministry of Marine Resources and Agriculture has started a program of Coconut Tree Plantation in the Maldives due to the lack of coconuts in the country. 325 coconut trees were given to Kendhikulhudhoo as part of this scheme by the Agriculture Ministry. To promote the initiative to the island, the minister personally visited Kendhikulhudhoo. All 325 trees have been planted around the island by council staff.
